Which firmware do I need on my camera in order to use MXML cards?
The MXML card will only work with firmware for the EX1: 1.11_0531 and above, for the EX3 & EX1R all versions of firmware are compatible with the MXML.
How reliable is a MXML card?
Our cards have been manufactured to the highest standard possible. We also use the latest and the fastest technology available on the market. Our QC is done at two levels, manufacturing and despatch.
Can I use S&Q recording with MXML cards and SDHC memory cards?
Prior to the March ‘10 release of Sony’s updated firmware version 1.20 and 1.10 the camera would not allow overcranking more than 48 fps recording at 720p/25fps. However, post the new release you can fully over crank to 60 fps with selected memory cards only.
What makes a MXML card any different from other USB 2 base express card adapters?
The MXML adapter was specifically designed and engineered with Sony EX1/EX3 cameras. We chose to design a card with the idea that it should work on a Sony camera firstly and a PC secondly. Therefore, we chose to use a dedicated single chip SDHC controller to work exclusively SDHC memory cards.
Why should I use a MXML card instead of Sony SxS card?
The biggest considerations to use the MXML cards are price, reliability and ease of use and after sales support which is second to none.
Producers to be able to complete shoots without the need to offload to their laptop or PC.

Why do I get a media restore error?
This message occurs when the camera has not completed writing the TOC (Table of Contents) for the file it has just written. This error’s main causes are:
- Ejection of the card before it completes writing the TOC, ie before the slot light turns green from red.
- The writing speed of the SDHC or SSD is too slow for the camera.
- Power interruption during recording.
